COVID-19 Prevention Measures

Dunwoody Prep’s response to COVID-19

In addition to our routine practices and the following enhanced procedures,
Dunwoody Prep will adhere to guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC),
State of Georgia, Department of Public Health,
Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning,
DeKalb County Georgia, and the City of Dunwoody.

  • Staff wear masks.
  • Children Ages 2 and older wear masks indoors except at meal and nap times.
  • Parents wear masks at drop-off and pick-up times.
  • Who: Only students and staff are permitted in the classrooms and gym.
  • What: We encourage the use of no-contact methods of greeting and interacting.
  • When: Daily Health Check completed prior to entry.
  • Where: Each classroom has separate entry and exit points to enhance social distancing.
  • How: Please maintain social distance at drop-off and pick-up to reduce potential risks. Remember to wear a mask at drop-off and pick-up times.
  • Group size: No more than 25 people in a classroom (including staff and students).
  • Classroom staffing: By limiting the number of staff in each classroom, potential exposures are decreased.
  • Classroom cleanliness: Toys, books, furniture, and other high-touch surfaces will be routinely disinfected and rotated. We have installed the PHI RGF HVAC Cell Advanced Oxidation System throughout our buildings to minimize and neutralize indoor air pollutants such as bacteria, viruses, mold, gases (VOCs) and odors.
  • Modifications to family-style dining: We’ve modified our mealtime practices to reduce the spread of germs. Students will still eat together but will not be serving themselves (family-style).
  • Naptime adjustments: Cots/cribs will be assigned to individual children. They are placed 6 feet apart when possible.  A physical barrier will be used between cots/cribs when 6 feet is not possible.  Cots/Cribs will be placed so children sleep “head to toe”.
  • Materials:
    • Classroom materials are limited to those which can be more easily cleaned and sanitized.
    • Materials are cleaned and sanitized either by hand or in the mechanical sanitizer/dishwasher when appropriate.  Materials that are “mouthed” are cleaned and sanitized daily. Other materials are cleaned and sanitized weekly or more often if needed.
  • We offer outdoor experiences in several spaces:
    • Outdoor Playgrounds
    • Infant Playground (each classroom has their own)
    • Nursery Building Playground
    • Preschool Building Playground (this playground has been divided to accommodate 2 classrooms at a time)
    • Outdoor Garden
    • Outdoor Courtyard
  • One classroom at a time for each outdoor space.
  • Playground equipment will be pressure washed and sanitized routinely as an added precaution.
  • Dunwoody Prep will provide water and single use, disposable cups for children during outdoor experiences. Children may bring their own reusable water bottle that goes home daily for washing.
  • We will ensure that social distancing is honored on the playground by discouraging children from gathering near the fence adjoining other playgrounds.

Please reach out to Dunwoody Prep directly if you any questions about our health and safety measures.
